AD= HOW LONG HAVE YOU GUYS BEEN AT THE MUSIC?

DC: Del Castillo began in late 2000 as a studio project between my brother and myself. The band officially got together the summer of 2001.

AD: WHAT IS THE MAIN GOAL OF THE SOUNDS YOU CREATE?

DC:To inspire people to look within and also to realize we all are one.

AD: HOW HAVE YOUR LIVES CHANGED SINCE YOU HAVE HIT THE BIGTIME?

DC: We’re preparing for more touring. We’ve realized that you can reach people through music and it is a powerful force.

AD: WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO DO MOST OF YOUR SONGS IN SPANISH?

DC: Spanish is much more eloquent when you’re playing Flamenco music. It just flows better.

AD: WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT AN AUSTIN FAN?

DC: :They’ve been with us since the beginning.

AD: WHEN YOU HEAR THAT AUSTIN IS THE LIVE MUSIC CAPITAL OF THE WORLD, WHAT DOES THAT MAKE YOU THINK?

DC: Great marketing.

AD: HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH ROBERT RODRIGUEZ?

DC: A mutual friend brought him out to see us play back in early ’02 and he loved the band, then I started giving him guitar lessons which led to recording guitar parts for his movies which then got the band involved too.

AD: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE BUILDUP OF AUSTIN?

DC: The traffic is getting pretty horrendous; other than that it doesn’t bother me.

AD: WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO OTHER LOCAL MUSICIANS WHO ARE JUST STARTING OUT OR HAVE BEEN AT IT FOR AWHILE?

DC: Keep the faith and don’t give up on your dream.

SEAN C : Has it been easier or harder to be two brothers in the same band playing
“dualing” guitars?

DC: Both, It’s great playing with Mark; he knows exactly what I’m gonna do and vice-versa..I guess it’s the brother thing but it’s tough when I have to harmonize to some of the harder melodies he writes.

SEAN C: What do you think of the emerging Latin music scene coming out of Austin?

DC: I think it’s really cool and it’s still growing. People of all ethnic backgrounds seem to really enjoy the passion of Latin music.
