Scary Mary plays the Continental Club June 18th opening for the Krayolas. Not heard of Scary Mary, well check them out on myspace (www.myspace/scarymarytx.com). They do have a kick-ass sound and front woman vocalist who you might know, Mary Welch, who also plays with Los Curanderos who draws quite a crowd with their danceable Latin tunes. With Scary Mary, Welch takes a 180 degree turn doing honkey tonkin’ true rock and roll with a little punk punch The line up includes Heavy Kevy,on guitar; Xavier Gil on percussion and vocals; John Cavallaro on guitar and vocals; Chris Kruse on bass and vocals; and special guest Blackie White (aka Guy Juke). From playing originals to covers this band is sizzin’; with Lone Star in hand and blaring good tunes into your ears they are all about fun and are guaranteed to satisfy. With influences from everyone including the Stooges, The Runaways, UK Subs, Willie Nelson, Stevie Wonder, The Tyrant of Texas Funk, The Skunks, Headquarters, Elvis Doctors and more you know they are going to put on a good show. Come out early to catch them in motion.
