This was my first year to attend this festival so I didn’t know what to expect except that parking was probably going to be a nightmare. But my friend and I were actually able to find a space immediately without having to pay for a garage! Good sign, I thought.

There was a healthy amount of people, some pushing kids in strollers, others walking their dogs, and some, like myself, just trying to soak up the atmosphere. There were tons of vendors selling anything from bundt cakes and candles to bath salts and cribs. And don’t even get me started on the delicious food vendors! Fried catfish, crawfish etouffee, gyros, kennel corn, the list goes on. The perfect foods for an event like this.

The music playing made this Austin experience even more pleasant. We caught some of the acts on the Latin and International stages. We were also lucky enough to see some street performers wowing the crowds and children while juggling lit torches or tap dancing on the corner.

Next year I definitely recommend bringing the family and friends down for this event. The music was great, the food was delicious, but the Austin atmosphere was even better.
